Commit to Social Media: Long-Term Results will Follow

We live and breathe social media at Flyline Search Marketing, so our blog posts are dedicated to helping our readers learn how to maximize what social media can do for their businesses.

Having a proper social media platform to promote your business is one of the best ways to attract a long-term and loyal customer base.

What makes social media stand out from the rest? What is it that makes it better than PR, sign advertising, or even TV or radio marketing? At Flyline, we believe that social media is the very best because of the relationships you can potentially build with your blog readers, Facebook fans, and even Twitter followers.

Commitment Issues
Commitment is not just something people face in relationships; they also have a hard time committing to the use of social media as a business owner. The biggest challenge to committing to use social media is the amount of time it seems to take.

Often, you will hear a business owner say, “I don’t have time,” or “I don’t see the results fast enough to bother with it.”

And, those arguments are certainly valid. While it is certainly understandable that a business owner’s life is quite hectic, we cannot begin to stress just how much this is the wrong perspective about social media.

The bottom line is that social media really is a mandatory form of marketing in the 21st century.

Common Mistakes
Forbes draws this fact out pretty well. In a recent article on social media, they talk about blogs that don’t engage the reader and businesses that turn off their readers because the blogs and posts make them feel like nothing more than a statistic.

At Flyline, we couldn’t agree more .When writing a blog post, you cannot make it all about your business. You can’t just advertise a service special and talk about how awesome you are, but, at the same time, you cannot just ramble on about the first time you had to call out an electrician or some other story.

With social media, whether it is blogging, posting, or even advertising a special, you must find a middle ground – one that gives the reader a chance to put forth their opinion.

Here are some ideas:
  • Engage the reader with a story, but stay on point.
  • Advertise to the reader but offer helpful tips and solutions to their problems, which is a must for any service business as it saves them a little money and won’t waste your technician’s time.
  • Most importantly though, you need to be committed and if that means hiring a social media specialist or creating your own team within the business, then do it.
With social media you can’t go in half baked, you have to go all the way and with that you will see long-term results.

SEO Done Right: Why it is Important to have a Specialist

If you are a business owner with a website, but don’t have the web traffic that your site should be achieving then chances are you need SEO.

Do you already have it? Do you even know what it is? It’s okay if you don’t, but if you have it already and you are not seeing the results that you should, you might need to reconsider your SEO strategy or, at the very least, any company that you have managing it for you.

That means finding an Internet Marketing company that knows what they are doing. At Flyline Search Marketing, we really do know what we are doing and are committed to every business owner get the best return for their investment.

Search Engine Optimization
For those of you unfamiliar, SEO is an abbreviation for Search Engine Optimization. Simply put, SEO improves your website’s visibility in its unaltered state. With proper SEO tactics in place, you can improve a website’s position so that more customers and prospects can find you on the Internet.

It would seem as though it was easy enough to do yourself – develop some keywords and put them in your website content. But, it is actually not that simple and there is an actual science to search engine optimization.

SEO with Flyline
It takes expertise and that expertise costs money – but it delivers a significant return for that money. However, once your site is optimized, your brand is easier to find and more people can consider or not whether they will use your product or service.

At Flyline, we do a few things with our SEO program and though there is a whole lot of technical stuff, there are other things that are easily understood. We believe in content -- a whole lot of content. From blogs to articles to Internet press releases, a couple of things happen.

People searching the Internet for a service or product are twice as likely to come across a company with a blog and website or see a press release listed in search engine results thanks to some specific keywords or links that have been placed within the content. Simply put, the more content there is used and updated regularly, the larger the data footprint, which then makes finding your site easier in a search query.

Flyline Search Marketing offers SEO, website hosting and development as well as Internet Marketing services, including content development for online channels like social media, public relations and marketing communications.

Do you own a business? Is it big or is it small? Do you want it to grow into a corporation or keep it the way it is?

If you answered yes to any, all, or some of those questions, then chances are you know what it means to keep a business going in this technology age we live in.
Having an online presence is no longer something you do to put business a step ahead of the competition but rather it is necessary for your company’s survival.

You can have a website, you can actively blog, and you can post update after lengthy update on your businesses Facebook page.

The Ins and Outs of Remarketing

Imagine this: you are at your computer and pull up a Google search or some other search engine you like to use when looking for a product or service. You type in 'outdoor sports during the summer' and within a fraction of a second a list of different sites pop up, advertising everything from rock climbing to paintball.

You then put the mouse over an outdoor stores website and click on it, visiting the company’s homepage. You are greeted with a picture of some ripped guy tree climbing and some clever slogan explaining why this company is the best in outdoor sports products, gear, and attire.

After some debate, you decide to keep browsing and escape the page by clicking the back button and go to the paintball site only to be shocked by an ad from the very site you were just on. What just happened?

In a word, it’s remarketing and it’s a way for you, as a business, to remind potential customers that you are still there even after they travel to other sites but your ad might encourage them to come back.

Remarketing in a Nut Shell
Here’s how remarketing works. You searched Google for outdoor sports stuff and went on their website, which then told the coding of the website that you might be interested in buying something but then you left to look elsewhere.
Thanks to many sites requiring enabled cookies to 'properly display' the Google AdWords program (or other similar marketing program), technology allows a business to follow you and display visual incentives in the form of ads in order to convince you to come back to the original website.

The Remarketing Setup
This is an excellent way to stay on the top of people’s minds as they shop and do their research with various sites. These potential customers are more likely to return if you make it easy for them like clicking on an ad rather than recreating their search and trying to remember the name of the company they first visited.

Working with a certified Google AdWords partner like Flyline Search Marketing can help you take advantage of the benefits found with Remarketing.

This is also a way to expand your Internet Marketing strategies with new tactics that enhance your ongoing efforts by adding a blog, social media marketing tactics like a Facebook fan page or Twitter account, press release program and ongoing SEO-driven content updates.

Promoting with Pinterest

The social media platform, Pinterest, is getting all the attention lately with millions of unique and active visitors each month. People are pinning all of their favorite, most stylish, yummiest or just downright cool products onto their boards and sharing with the other users they have connected with on the site and other sites, too.

Millions of people sharing images of cool stuff with their friends through Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and basically any other social media site that lets you upload pictures and links. While this sounds like a great pastime, you may wonder why Pinterest would be valuable to your business.

The Potential of Pinterest
Pinterest is gaining attention in the business world. For instance, a recent article on Forbes noted that the social networking site is becoming an important tool to use for promoting businesses – small and large.

Additionally, Search Engine Journal noted some interesting Pinterest statistics about the number of users as well as the 400% growth on a month-over-month basis to help it already reach 10.4 million users in the relatively short time that it has been around.

How Pinterest Works
As with all social media platforms, you will need to put some time into it and learn the ropes. Tthere are plenty of users on the site and it only seems to be growing by leaps and bounds. The trick is to get your pictures (of your products) pinned on the more active users so they get seen quicker and by more people who then pin and share with their 'friends' in their realm of social media.

In short, when you join the site, you are given a bulletin board of sorts and then you get to put a pin in it. If you like a movie or a particular recipe, then you ‘pin’ to it. Once you have pinned your image(s), they will begin to get shared by people who think they are cool, in other words your potential customers.

Others click on the picture and are presented with a blown-up version of the picture, comments, and, most importantly, a link to the origin site. This means that while they can't buy a cool product from Pinterest directly, they can have easy access to your site its products and possibly become your next customer; which can make you money or just simply get you noticed.

Things to Know about Using Pinterest

When using Pinterest, there are a few things you should know:
  • The prime demographic of the website are female users. Although there are men, the primary target is who often make many of the purchase decisions in the home anyways. This should help shape the kind of information that you post on your board.
  • As with all social media platforms, Pinterest does have its share of non-sense that people have to wade through so make sure your content is relevant and valuable.
  • Make sure you put the time and effort into managing it effectively by sharing your products, engaging with your pinners, and taking note of the competition as you shape and update your content.

Your Experience with Pinterest
Have you used Pinterest for your business? If so, please share your experience with our readers.

Flyline Search Marketing Offers Premier Internet Marketing Strategies for the Yahoo and Bing Merger

Do you already own the seven seas of the Internet with our Google AdWords’ pay per click (PPC) advertising program? Well, there are some big fish that have jumped into the Internet Marketing Sea that you may want to consider.

Thanks to the merger of Yahoo and Microsoft MSN, or Bing as it is now called, there is a pretty big chunk of unclaimed waters to consider steering your boat toward. Here are some things to think about in relation to the Yahoo and Bing pay per click advertising program.

The Merging of Two Online Giants
Yahoo and Microsoft (Bing) have joined forces in an attempt to reclaim the search engine world. And, while alone they weren't so strong, together they have reclaimed about 30% of the Internet searches worldwide, including many from the US.

That equates to 154 million searchers that your business won't reach with just Google! Sounds like that could be an incredible missed opportunity if you don’t act now to readjust your Internet Marketing strategy.

Potential Advantages
For starters, because these companies have merged, you will no longer have to do with two separate accounts and all the hassle that comes with that. Of course you will also be reaching more people with your business now advertised on both the Yahoo and Bing search engines.

With both companies now working as one, there will be no time spent on 'competing' with each other. That means that their resources are now better spent on making things better for their customers. Expect to continue to see improvements with the Yahoo and Bing partnership and all that they offer as they become more tightly integrated.

Why Pay-Per-Click?
If you have not already heard of or even used it before, pay per click (PPC) advertising is one of the most effective marketing strategies available amongst Internet Marketing tactics today.

Whether used for Google or the Yahoo and Bing partnership, or both, Pay per click advertising, through careful calculations and a previously assigned budget, keeps your business on the front page of a search engine and can even lead to your company being listed at the top of the page -- where your company belongs.
